Occupying the ground floor of a three-story office building at the narrowest corner of Lixi Road, Over Bakery seamlessly blends with the surrounding environment. Originally serving as a warehouse, the space underwent a thoughtful transformation, retaining aspects of its past while embracing a new identity.
Preserving the Past: A Transformed Façade
The south façade of Over Bakery, facing Lixi Road, was meticulously adapted to reflect the historical resonance of the street. The pre-existing exterior, with windows and doors hinting at its industrial past, was retained with minimal alterations. A transparent glass screen, subtly twisted to shift its angle, introduced an intermediate threshold, connecting the interior space with the bustling street. The once-small door with a window was preserved, now transformed into cozy window seats, while the window opening evolved into a welcoming doorway, offering shelter to pedestrians and their canine companions.
Expanding Horizons: Merging Interior with Exterior
Over Bakery redefines its relationship with the community by expanding the sidewalk into the building.
