Situated in India, the Meditation Gazebo designed by STUDIOARO stands as a tribute to tradition and nature. Lead Architect Aroty Panyang envisioned a structure that not only complements the modern home but also pays homage to the family’s heritage.
Honoring the Past
The project emerged from a desire to fill the void left by the demolition of the family’s traditional holiday home. As a symbol of reverence for the past, the bamboo gazebo was crafted adjacent to the new modern residence. Its ornate design contrasts the minimalist aesthetic of the main house, adding depth and character to the landscape.
Artistry in Bamboo
Crafted from various types of bamboo and cane, the gazebo’s design showcases intricate arches and ring beams, providing both strength and visual appeal. Bambusa balcooa and Bambusa tulda were meticulously selected for their flexibility and durability, while cane was integrated for finishing touches. The structure’s three openings and improvised skylight ensure ample light and ventilation, enhancing the overall experience.
Sustainable Construction
In India, sourcing high-quality bamboo treated with natural salts is crucial for building lasting structures. STUDIOARO’s commitment to longevity led them to harvest and treat their bamboo, ensuring the gazebo’s durability for decades to come.
