Embracing Coastal Serenity
Situated within Costa Esmeralda, a coastal enclave in Buenos Aires, Casa La Marina stands as a testament to modern architectural ingenuity. Designed by Besonias Almeida Arquitectos, this residence epitomizes elegance amidst nature’s bounty.
Contextual Harmony
Nestled amidst dunes and greenery, the irregularly shaped plot offers an elevated sanctuary, affording privacy while embracing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The architects skillfully integrated open spaces, including balconies and terraces, to foster a seamless connection with the outdoors.
Materiality and Client Vision
The clients’ affinity for exposed concrete inspired the design ethos, with the entire house crafted from this material, including furnishings. While maintaining uniformity, subtle contrasts in color and texture were introduced to enhance visual interest and minimize maintenance.
Flexible Living Spaces
Designed to accommodate a couple, their children, and guests, the residence boasts ample space for up to 12 occupants. Flexibility was key, with provisions for service staff quarters, storage, and semi-covered outdoor areas for social gatherings and parking.
Architectural Composition
To address the site’s topography, the house is divided into two rectangular prisms connected by gentle stairs. The elevated volume houses private quarters, ensuring seclusion, while the lower prism hosts social activities, seamlessly blending with the natural terrain.
Design Innovations
The architects introduced subtle design nuances to elevate the structure’s aesthetic appeal. Rotated side surfaces and folded roofs create dynamic spatial experiences, while maximizing natural light ingress and framing captivating vistas.
Casa La Marina stands as a testament to architectural excellence, harmonizing contemporary design with natural splendor to create an idyllic coastal retreat.
