Introduction

Designed by NOIZ architekti and completed in 2022, Na Rade House stands as a testament to the harmonious integration of contemporary living within the historic fabric of Bratislava’s Old Town. Situated near Horský Park, this family home caters to the needs of a young family of four while respecting the context of its surroundings.

Contextual Sensitivity

The project presented a unique challenge: accommodating a modern family home on a relatively small plot within a historic urban context. Originally, the site housed two structures—a single-story family house in the upper part and a brick garden house in the lower part.

Preservation Dilemma

Initially, there was debate over preserving the original buildings. However, after careful analysis of existing structures and legislative considerations, the decision was made to embark on new construction while honoring the essence of the originals.

Design Approach

The design concept aimed to minimize the impact on the plot and its surroundings while maintaining the scale and character of the original development. Two fundamental principles guided the design: preserving the connection to the original structures and crafting a new layout scheme within their footprint.

Integration and Innovation

The resulting Na Rade House not only meets the modern lifestyle needs of its occupants but also enhances the user experience while demonstrating a sensitive approach to the environment. By seamlessly blending tradition with innovation, the architects have created a residence that enriches the historical fabric of Bratislava’s Old Town.

Conclusion

Na Rade House serves as a compelling example of architectural ingenuity and sensitivity to context. Through meticulous design and a commitment to preserving the spirit of the past, NOIZ architekti has transformed a modest plot into a modern dwelling that respects its heritage while embracing contemporary living.
